Polyps and early cancers can be removed endoscopically. This provides specimens for the pathologists to examine tissue and make a diagnosis. Furthermore, you may not require an operation if all of the lesion can be removed. Mr Jayanthi performs the following procedures:
- Polypectomy – removal of polyps
- Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) – This procedure is performed when there is evidence of dysplasia (unstable cells) or early cancer.
Further details and risks of these procedures will be explained at the consultation.
